Trail Code

Before you use the trail, here's a few important pointers to help you keep on the right side of the landowners who have given you access over their private property and other trail-users.  

And please remember - share the trails with care!  Keep to the left and pass on the right.

• Advise others where you’re going
• Stay on the Trail
• Prepare for alpine weather at all times
• Carry plenty of food and water
• Always consider others
• Keep to the left, pass on the right
• Bikers give way to walkers
• Horses are not allowed on the Queenstown Trail for safety reasons and to protect the surface of the Trail 
• Dogs to be on a leash at all times
• Light no fires
• Keep streams and lakes clean
• Bury toilet waste
• Take your rubbish with you
• Report all hazards
• Protect plants and animals
• Leave nature undisturbed
• Keep to the trail, don’t trespass on private land
• Leave the trail as you found it
