About Gibbston

Gibbston River Trail - Opening Celebration held on November 8 2014 - it's a great trail come take a look for yourself!

Gibbston or ‘Valley of the Vines’ is synonymous with world-class wines, the famous Kawarau bungy and now, one of the most dramatic trails in New Zealand.

Riding through Gibbston , you could be forgiven for thinking you’re in parts of France. The vineyards, family-owned restaurants and cafes, old churches and intense summer heat are a feast for the all the senses.

Ingeniously, the trail passes underneath a busy main highway, via the Barfoot Tunnel - to make sure trail users don’t miss a second of the valley’s most spectacular sights, smells and sounds. (Riding this tunnel is an experience in itself!)
